Summer Bucket List- Part 1

Most summers, I plan on doing amazing, adventurous activities that I always associate with the season. Sadly, life gets in the way and the heat usually stops me from doing any of it! This summer, being my last spent in my hometown of Kelowna, BC, I have made a bucket list.
So far I have 43 items on the bucket list- I think its quite doable.
I thought I would share the first 15 with you today. Note that not all of them are fun, per say, but they are all things I've been meaning to do for a while now.
I'm thinking that each time I cross something from the list I can do a little update post?
Anyways, here it is...
1. Go to the Armstrong fair.

2. Watch a drive-in movie.

3. Try 10 Pinterest DIY

...this one is at the top of my list!

4. Try 5 new recipes

That right there is lavender hot chocolate. YUM.

5. Discover a new favorite author

6. Make it a weekly routine of going to cheap Tuesday movies and wing Wednesdays.
7. Sleep outside under the stars.

8. Build an insane blanket fort.. and of course spend a day reading in it :)

9. Go to Center of Gravity and Keloha- both beach festivals in Kelowna
10. Have a fondue dinner
11. Relearn the piano.

12. Get a polaroid camera.

Pretty sure I'm set on this one, its the Instax mini 8 and it comes in pastel pink and yellow too!
(learning towards the yellow)

13. Finish my wall collage and mural.

I will be doing an update post once I've made some more progress! I'm hand painting a wall in my bedroom in a chinoiserie style.

 14. Get my blog/etsy store up and running again!
(I've been pretty horrible with keeping up the blog lately!)
15. Eat Clean

Less packaged food and more veggies-they've been MIA in my diet for a while now.. not so good.

Crazy. Exciting. News.

As promised, I will now reveal my post-grad plans for the upcoming year!
Drumroll please.........
I am too excited for words. This has been my dream for a long, long time. I love the big city life and being surrounded by art, fashion and music everyday is just heaven for me.
My eventual goal is to grow my own design business, so I will be taking the Associate Bachelors Degree in Interior Design at the Fashion Institute of Technology.
Totally crazy.
The school is  known world-wide as one of the best in the field, and let me tell you, it was not easy to get in!

There it is, in the center of the Chelsea District, aka fashion central.
The degree includes internship placement in top design firms in the city, and guest speakers such as Michael Kors are a regular occurrence at the school.
I can't stop dreaming about NYC, so I thought I would share some of the photos that have been flooding my mind.

Cocktail parties and a fashionable group of girlfriends sounds too good to be true.. a total dream come true for me.
Sometimes I forget that in reality, I will be spending most of my time studying towards my degree.
I'm sure I can fit in some fun time though and experience the glam NYC life!

My prom...

Well, it sure has been a while! I'm super excited to share my prom look, which I will be wearing next Friday for my graduation dinner/dance. I've got amazzzing news regarding my after-graduation plans, which I will be sharing in my next post.. all I can say is that for the first time ever, I can't wait until summer is over!
So the look I'm going for is a 20's, Great Gatsby inspired ensemble. I've bought everything and couldn't be more ecstatic to see how it comes together on the day of prom!
First some inspiration shots for my look..

Basically, I'm going for lots of art deco style bling- very glamorous.
Now for the interpretation of the look which I will be rocking..

Sorry for the tiny size, but you get the idea. Dress is by the amazing
Tadashi Shoji and was found on sale for 200$ - happy girl!
The up-do I'm using as inspiration is this slick 20's style..

I'm also asking my stylist to incorporate a lovely old brooch that has been passed down through my family. I did a little DIY and glued it onto a hair pin, so I'm thinking it could be clipped into the back to add a touch of sparkle.
Next comes the makeup, which I am doing myself (eek!). I found a youtube tutorial of makeup inspired by Lana Del Rey, one of my favorite artists. I tried it out on myself the other night, and I must say, its fabulous ;)

Tomorrow I am going to the florist's to give her an idea of what a want for my wrist corsage. I'm thinking blushy pink roses, with some nice greenery, and maybe even a feather thrown in there.

Lastly (and sorry for this long rant) comes my nails! I went for a French gel manicure but with a twist.. black tips!

All in all I'm pretty psyched. For those of you who have seen the Great Gatsby movie, which I absolutely LOVED, I'm expecting the night to go down like one of Mr. Gatsby's insane parties. A bit unrealistic? Yea.. but a girl can dream :)

Moodboard- Masculine Mod

I recently found a site, Project Decor, where you can easily create moodboard and then simply click on an item and buy it. Not that I actually have the money or space to buy any of it, but I've still had lots of fun making some imaginary spaces.
That Jonathan Adler pillow has long been on my wishlist.. I love the way it works in basically any room...

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and got lots of amazing presents! Later this week I will share a lengthy post about my Christmas spent in NYC, so exciting!

Apartment Crush

I came across the apartment of Olympia Bermann this week- she is the daughter of an interior designer as well as a clothing designer for J jealous..
Also, completely jealous of her AMAZING New York CIty flat. Lots of antiques and a hint of pink? Perfection.

Beautiful Abodes

Cozy Velvet Love...

I may be the only one, but I am really tired of the heat. I'm definitely more of a cozy, cuddle up with tea in the winter kinda gal, which is why I'm posting about velvet in mid-august. I've found two loevely rooms featuring velvet upholstering, though I will be indulging in the trend with a pair of velvet leggins I've had my eye on...

Inspired Palette

Bonjour! Today is my last day at home before I leave for a little vacay fun! This means you should prepare yourself for some sparse posting in the next few days. I will try my best to get off my butt long enough to write up a post, but don't blame me if the sun has me passed out, which is a very likely possibility.
My last post before I leave is a lazy, 'been packing all day' repost from Design Seeds..

Super pretty though, right?
Well I am off to bed to squeeze in a few hours sleep before getting up at 4 am..blehhh
